An adverse effect is an unexpected medical problem or abnormality that occurs during or after treatment with a drug. DrugBank primarily obtains this information from product labeling and less frequently through literature searches. Adverse effects are not necessarily caused by the drug, and may result from unrelated issues or conditions  1,2.
